Canada’s first ever Quality in Family Practice Book of Tools is a comprehensive set of quality performance indicators for family practices. Using this book will help family doctors and other primary care providers improve the quality of care in their practices. Authored by Cheryl Levitt, family physician and Professor, Department of Family Medicine, McMaster University and Linda Hilts, family practice nurse and Assistant Professor, Department of Family Medicine, McMaster University, this Quality Book of Tools includes a conceptual framework of categories and values and is available to order or download at www.qualityinfamilypractice.com. Early development and testing of the Quality in Family Practice Assessment was funded by the Ontario Ministry of Health and Long Term Care. The Review Team consisted of key stakeholders from the Ontario College of Family Physicians, McMaster University and other organizations, and included David Price, Associate Professor and Chair of the Dept of Family Medicine at McMaster, Lisa Dolovich, Jan Kasperski, CEO of the Ontario College of Family Physicians, Jennifer McGregor, Carol Lane, Wendy Chin, Betty Ho and Xiaoke Katherine Li. Our machealth team has developed a database of further information resources to support the Quality Book of Tools and family practices interested in quality improvement. You can access the resource database at http://quality.resourcedb.machealth.ca. We are also working on elearning modules to complement the book.
