Ontario's Enhanced 18-Month Well-Baby Visit

Developed by experts in child development at McMaster University, this program provides healthcare professionals access to certified online learning programs, resources, and communities related to Ontario's Enhanced 18-Month Well-Baby Visit.

Physicians and other health professionals are in a unique position to improve the odds for positive childhood development and to champion local community resources that support such important development. This video provides an introduction to the enhanced 18-month well-baby visit. The enhanced visit, now province-wide in Ontario, introduces a process using standardized tools in order to facilitate health professionals to have a broader discussion with parents on child development, parenting, connection to local community programs and services that promote healthy child development and literacy. The visit also provides an opportunity to identify those children who will require referral to specialized services.

This video will address:

  1. Office preparation for the enhanced 18-month well-baby visit
  2. Use of the Nipissing District Developmental Screen® (NDDS®)
  3. Use of the developmental section of the 18-month Ontario Rourke Baby Record
